Position Description

The Opportunity

Our Bay of Islands based client has been successfully offering a variety of marine services and products to their customers. A large part of their business is servicing the electrical needs of commercial and private vessels within the region. Alongside this, they have developed their own range of custom hardware which is meeting a niche in the market. This business prides itself on their customer service and their ability to respond ashore and out on the water. Due to this success, our client is looking to increase the size of their technician team and future plans will see a retail store and service facility open in the coming months.

This is a fantastic Full-time opportunity to join their team as a Marine Electrical / Service Technician.

The Role

As a multi-talented Marine Technician, you will be working with the owner of the business. Your work will be Monday through Friday with some occasional weekend work and overtime as required. You will be working both in the new service facility and out on site in the marinas throughout the region.

You will need to be competent at undertaking tasks such as:

· Consistently delivering a high-quality service to customers.

· Marine AC / DC, installations, repairs and diagnostics.

· Diagnosing and repairing marine engines and equipment.

· Rewiring and re-fitting existing electrical systems.

· Design, plan and installing new electrical systems.

· Work to survey standard in accordance with NZ Maritime rules and regulations.

The Essentials

To be successful in being shortlisted you will need:

· Recognised trade qualification within a marine electrical or mechanical discipline.

· Minimum 3 years industry experience on commercial and recreational vessels.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Current New Zealand drivers license.

· Flexible positive attitude.

Additional skills and experience that would be advantageous:

· Currently working in the trade as a Marine Technician.

· Sales experience with electronics or electrical hardware.

· Vessel handling skills.

The Hours

· Permanent full-time position.

· 8:30 – 16:30 Monday to Friday.

· Weekend and overtime work as required.
