Orakei Marine manages the beautiful Orakei Marina on Auckland’s Tamaki Drive. We are also a boat brokerage selling new and used boats from our on-water floating office. Offering integrated mechanical / electrical / detailing and boatbuilding services, the new vessels we sell need commissioning and hand over to the new owners and you will be a BIG part of all of this. No two days are the same.
A family-owned and operated business, the Orakei Marine team lives and breathes boats and all things boating, striving to make sure that our client’s boating experience is always easy and pleasurable.
Our current head Detailer is leaving for the Super Yacht industry using his experience from Orakei Marine as his resume for a job on yachts! We are looking for a Head Boat Detailer to take a hand over from him before he leaves! Immediate Start!

For the Head detailer, Deckhand & Dockmaster role, we offer not only a competitive hourly rate according to your abilities but we also offer a Profit Share Scheme so you can earn from the hard work you and your team put in day to day!
What you would be doing in the role:
- Managing the company detailing team from hiring candidates to programming the work and assisting accounts to invoice for the jobs. Don't worry, you will not be on your own as we will support you and train you!
- Interior / exterior detailing of new boats prior to client handover and, of course, monthly detailing of our current clients’ vessels at Orakei Marina and around Auckland.
- Assisting the Marina Operations Manager in a Dockmaster capacity with seamanship and rigging dock lines
- Skippering or Deckhand work according to the candidate’s prior experience and training.

- Normal hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am to 4.00pm on Fridays but we can also offer flexible start and finish times, part time employment and a full time 4-day week option that may include Saturdays. All to be discussed with you!
- Orakei Marine team events (Fishing, Sail GP, etc) on “Orakei Vice”, our company 8.5m Protector RHIB
- Potential weekend use of “Orakei Vice”, for you and your family once we have trained you!
What we are looking for from you:
- A can-do positive attitude, an eye for detail, a love of boating and a commitment to outstanding customer service by making beautiful boats even more beautiful
- Detailing experience would be preferred, but if you think you have what it takes based on experience in a related field, we can train you. A superyacht background or boat driving experience would be preferred.
- Reliability: we need an individual who wants to work and will turn up when they say they will, rain or shine
- A full NZ driver’s license and eligibility to work in NZ
