People and Performance Advisor
Dickey Boats
Position Description
With some internal movements within our team, we are now looking for a People and Performance Advisor to join the operations crew at Dickey Boats in this new but hugely supported and people focussed role. Whilst some broad (traditional) HR skills would be extremely helpful – this is not a traditional “HR” role.
Candidates with a trade background who are looking for career development, and an opportunity to influence the next generation of boatbuilders are encouraged to apply.
The Role
The role is well established with processes, and hugely supported by our small operations team. The foundations are in place, and for a person eager for professional and personal development, there are lots of opportunities to continuously improve and build on our current systems and processes.
Reporting to the Commercial Manger and working closely with the Operations team, this role will provide innovation, support, and administration in:
· Culture – our values are championed proactively in every interaction.
· Training and Development – ensure on the job training is part of our culture. Driving training and development across the business including trade apprenticeship programmes. Contributing to the ongoing upskilling and development of our team members including delivering in-house initiatives.
· Recruitment and induction – lead the end-to-end recruitment and induction and continue to build on the systems and processes that attract and retain the right people for Dickey Boats, including becoming an immigration process expert.
· Health & Safety – Be the “go to” for all things Health and Safety whilst increasing team members’ knowledge and expertise, ensuring safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of everyone’s decision making
· Financial/Payroll - understanding the relationship between this role and the numbers, taking ownership of payroll processing, remuneration reviews and balancing affordability with performance
· Administration, planning and coordination - supporting the people and business in all the above areas, along with providing ER advice, compliance and management, reporting and maintaining appropriate records.
About You
As well as having a keen interest in boatbuilding and trades, you will be a strong administrator and co-ordinator of things, have good systems experience – or be willing to learn (software, excel, word etc) love working with people, have exceptional communication skills, be excited about new initiatives, and enjoy taking ownership of what needs to be done.
Whilst being a confident networker, you will also understand the importance of confidentiality and manage situations with the utmost professionalism, trust, and discretion.
As the role covers a broad spectrum of skills, work environments and capabilities, it is expected that candidates will be motivated to research and actively upskill within a supportive team that is happy to provide information and training where required.
To feel at home at Dickey Boats, you will have a real interest in the marine environment, be passionate about what you do, and enjoy splitting your time between an office environment and being out and about in the workshop.
If joining this exceptional team sounds like it would provide an ideal challenge, please contact Will Nicholls at Dickey Boats on 021 577 830 for more information.
